You may be seeing turf pop up more in your neighborhood but you may have some unanswered questions about it before you take the plunge. You may be wondering, yes, synthetic turf looks good; but how does it work?
You get what you pay for
Turf may not be a cheap investment, but by making a long-term investment in your home, you can rest assured that it will pay for itself over its life (and it’s a while!) Synthetic turf can eliminate most or all of the costs you have with traditional lawns. That’s more money in your bank account for other home improvements.
Drainage
Turf is more efficient than traditional sod or grass when it comes to drainage – the lining allows water to drain more quickly. In the subsoil, absorbent materials in the drainage system capture moisture and allow it to slowly seep into the soil and aquifer. Natural grass encourages runoff instead of absorption.
But what about the dog?
Your dog will meet its match when you switch to turf. No more digging or rolling in mud; turf is strong and durable enough to withstand your dogs biggest mess. Droppings can be rinsed off with a quick rinse off with your hose.
Your dog will appreciate the soft cushion too. The texture of turf eliminates gravel and mulch, making it ideal for your dog run.
Maintenance
After installing synthetic turf, your mower can go into retirement (along with the rest of your lawn equipment). All you’ll need now is a rake or leaf blower and a stiff broom to keep it maintained. Basically – remove debris and fluff the fibers.
Allergies and Chemicals
Synthetic turf is safe to play on and healthier than natural grass, and there is no pollen to irritate your allergies. Its soft cushion makes it a great alternative for kids playgrounds, too!
