BACKYARD PUTTING GREEN

When it comes time to hit the green, golfers appreciate high-quality terrain.

Though the game may bring to mind images of natural lawns, artificial grass is also a popular option. The consistency and low-maintenance construction make it a good fit for golfers.

Putting greens are useful for helping people relax, enjoy time with friends, and improve their golf game. Artificial turf gives you all the benefits of a well-groomed lawn, including a sleek appearance and better performance during golf games. It also allows you to avoid the costs and headaches associated with natural lawns.

Complete Synthetic Turf offers four different putting green configurations for the backyard. Each presentation has a very distinct footprint which works with the restrictions in the yard where the green will be installed and the desires and needs of the client. The four styles of greens are the same constructs we offer to our commercial, HOA and Golf Course customers.

Each green is tailored and shaped to our client’s vision. We work with our customers to develop the design and layout of their green.

As the green takes shape, we continue to work with our client, every step of the way. The four greens Complete Synthetic Turf offers are the Family Lawn Green, Traditional Nylon Green, The Nylon Hybrid and the Classical Sand Filled.

Backyard Putting Green

The Family Lawn Green

This option is for our customer installing a lawn area and they want to practice putting or give their children or grandchildren an entertainment center. The green has no fringe surrounding it and is the same height or slightly raised above the surrounding lawn installation. Usually, the putting area is less than 200 square feet (SF) and has two or three 4” white plastic golf cups with marker sets. The surface is a 3/8” or ½” pile height, tightly tufted yarn infilled with 2 to 3 pounds of dust free, sterile silica. The outer edge is seamed to the lawn material to create a continuous surface. The green is usually priced as additional dollars per square foot to the lawn price for that area and the cups and marker sets are individually priced. (Can Stimp at 8 to 10) (Maintenance Level based on 1 to 10 with 10 being the most intense – 3)

Backyard Putting Greens

The Traditional Nylon Green

This option includes fringe and four 6” cups installed in a 10” sleeves to stabilize each cup. Four marker sets are included with this style green. Most Nylon Greens are larger than 200 SF and are raised above the surrounding area 3” to 6” providing for challenging contours while providing the long straight putt that must be practiced. The Traditional Nylon Green is a half inch or 3/8 of an inch pile height. In today’s market there are nylon, polypropylene and polyethylene choices. Whichever surface is used it is typically filled with 2 to 3 pounds of Silica. Functionally the half inch green is for putting practice with options for bump and run and short-range chipping, usually inside 10 feet. In the backyard it gives an extra practice opportunity for someone who is trying to shave a few strokes off their game or an entertainment center where the family can spend some quality time together. As with all backyard greens, the size and the shape of the green is determined by the size of the backyard, the plantings in the area and other limiting features. (Can Stimp at 9 to 12) (Maintenance Level based on 1 to 10 with 10 being the most intense – 6)

The Nylon Hybrid Putting Green

This putting green is the same as the Traditional Nylon Green with one important exception, a 5MM Attenuation Pad is installed under the putting surface on top of the base material. Functionally this provides greater options for bump and run and short-range chipping, up to 45 feet off the green. The Nylon Hybrid is for the golf enthusiast to improve their putting skills and work on their short, short game. As with all backyard putting greens, the size, shape and location of the green is determined by the size of the backyard. (Can Stimp at 9 to 12) (Maintenance Level based on 1 to 10 with 10 being the most intense – 6)

Backyard Putting Green

Classic Sand Filled Green

This putting green is constructed to receive a shot from 40 yards plus and the ball will check up and roll with one bounce; The putting surface is a polypropylene split film/flat film yarn 1” to 11/4” heigh. The putting surface is laid and secured and broomed so the yarn stands up than, layer by layer, the turf is filled with sand while being continuously broomed. The intense brooming causes the tips of the individual yarn strands to bifurcate, fray. Sanding stops about ¼” from filling the turf completely and a heavy roller is run back and forth over the surface locking down the frayed ends of the yarn. At this point a top layer of green or green with black sand is applied to the surface and the rolling continues. Rolling is needed to raise the Stimp of the green, but initial Stimp at the time of installation, usually averages10 to 12, and will improve with weathering and foot traffic and continued maintenance eventually reaching 14+.

Most Sand Filled Greens are larger than 600 SF (Sand Filled Greens should increase in size as they move away from the hitting stations. E.g. 600 SF at 40 yards, 800 SF at 60 yards with 80 yards uo to 120 yards a minimum of 1200 SF). Obviously, the Classical Sand Filled Green is for the Golfer who wants to achieve a scratch game. (Stimp at 11 to 12+)  (Maintenance Level based on 1 to 10 with 10 being the most intense – 10)

WHY FAKE GRASS PROVIDES REAL BENEFITS

The term fake grass may lead some to believe artificial turf isn’t the best idea for their need. For a putting green to be even, each grass blade must be short and level with the others. Fake grass offers a smooth and level playing field for your golf game, improving the experience whether you’re a casual hobbyist or a professional training for their next match.

The realistic look is one benefit, but the realistic feel is also something golfers can appreciate. No matter how much experience you have, you’ll have a better day at the course when things are well-kept.

If you’re looking for the appearance and functionality associated with a well-kept lawn and a way to bypass the costs and maintenance, synthetic lawns are the way to go. To find out more about getting putting greens at your location, contact Complete Synthetic Turf today!

CUTTING COSTS BY INSTALLING TURF IN YOUR BACKYARD

Golfers want to be able to pick up their equipment and play whenever the opportunity presents itself. Unfortunately, paying subscription fees at courses can get a bit expensive after a while. In addition, you may not be able to use your membership as often as you’d like. Depending on the payment arrangement, it can be hard to get your money’s worth.

Artificial terrain can be used to set up a home putting green, allowing you to enjoy a golf game in a private location. It’s also great for those who golf with family members, friends, or neighbors. As we have all read or have been told, improving your short game is the key to shaving strokes off your game! The low-cost of getting artificial turf installed means this option could actually end up helping you save in the long-term. Avoiding the regular upkeep procedures associated with real grass means you can bring the golf course closer to home.

PUTTING GREENS FOR COMMERCIAL ORGANIZATIONS

Many companies look for ways to reward their employees, bring team members together, and build a thriving culture within their organization. Since golf is a popular hobby that many people enjoy, companies may be wise to consider setting up a putting green for their employees.

Setting up a putting green is easy when you use synthetic grass. Not only is synthetic turf quick to install, but its low-maintenance construction means the business won’t have to pour money into keeping the course in good shape. Commercial putting greens are great for helping employees relax and boosting productivity by helping people recharge after work.

IS ARTIFICIAL TURF FOR YOUR BACKYARD SAFE?

The term artificial automatically puts people on the defensive, causing them to worry about the effects of replacing a regular lawn with a synthetic lawn. However, many of the main problems associated with lawns are linked with natural grass. The use of harsh chemicals to treat weed growth, the insects which gather in tall sections, and other common problems are only a major issue if you’re using real grass.

With safer materials, you can get creative and consider options like an indoor putting green. Since indoor putting greens don’t present the dangers of regular grass, they will not pose a threat to the enclosure housing them. Putting green turf that you don’t have to worry about is the best kind – it makes it easier for you to focus on the relaxing and engaging aspects of golf without worrying.

PUTTING GREEN MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

Whether you have a commercial or home putting green, there will come a point when you may require repairs. While artificial lawns require much less maintenance, they still need to be serviced at some point. Having professional assistance for these tasks makes things much easier. With quality repairs and maintenance, you can extend the lifespan of this durable option even further.

Having a synthetic lawn allows you to save money and time by freeing you from common drawbacks of standard grass. Once you switch to a synthetic alternative, you can streamline any repair and maintenance needs you may have with Complete Synthetic Turf. Our quality material makes it easy for you to get the putting green you’ve always wanted.
